Globalisation, migration and (digital) technological progress have brought about major changes in society. These developments are posing challenges in the field of information technology, governance and security. Befitting of the city of peace, justice and security, The Hague University of Applied Sciences (THUAS) has woven these challenges in both education and applied research.

In the field of cyber security, it is of utmost importance for The Netherlands to continue developing knowledge and expertise through state-of-the-art training, innovations and (applied) research. THUAS continuously shapes its role as a reliable knowledge partner on the subject of Cyber Security.

Digital Future

The ‘Digital Future’ is a core theme in THUAS Strategic Plan and knowledge agenda, and will further shape THUAS role as a reliable knowledge partner on this subject. Professors, (lecturer)researchers, students and external partners conduct practice-oriented research on social issues related to the ‘Digital Future’. The focus in this triangle of education, research and workfield/society, is on interdisciplinary cooperation with:

  • government, (international) institutions, industry
  • other knowledge and research institutions.

The theme ‘Digital Future’ is led by THUAS Centre of Expertise Cyber Security and the Centre of Expertise Digital Operations and Finance.

Centre of Expertise Cyber Security

THUAS Centre of Expertise Cyber Security (CoECS) was founded in 2015, with the mission to strengthen the cyber resilience of public and private organizations that are themselves less equipped to deal with cyber threats. The CoECS has since built a strong track-record of multidisciplinary research, carried out in several research groups. Visit the CoECS website for an overview of our research groups, team and current research projects.

THUAS, in collaboration with key partners Saxion and NHL Stenden Universities of Applied Science, is leading a national research program SPRONG Cyberweerbaar NL (funded by SIA). The goal of Cyberweerbaar NL is to enhance cyber resilience throughout the Netherlands. To accomplish this, a large number of local, regional and national partners and other knowledge institutions have joined the consortium and collaborate together.

Education

THUAS has a lot to offer to students and professionals with an interest in cybersecurity:
