Identity & access management, remote access

Identity and Access Management (IAM), is the organisational process for identifying, authenticating and authorising individuals or groups of people to have access to applications, systems or networks by associating user rights and restrictions with established identities. IAM is a framework of policies and technologies for ensuring that the proper people in an enterprise have the appropriate access to technology resources. Secure remote access refers to any security policy, solution, strategy or process that exists to prevent unauthorized access to a network, its resources, or any confidential or sensitive data. Essentially, secure remote access is a mix of security strategies and not necessarily one specific technology like a Virtual Private Network (VPN).
