Artificial Intelligence for a smarter, safer tomorrow

The role of artificial intelligence (AI) in video surveillance is growing fast. Cameras are getting more intelligent, moving from just capturing a scene to a better understanding of the objects moving in the scene. 

AI-enabled cameras at the edge can run analytics applications all by themselves, classifying objects and triggering events. They can enhance the analytics running on a server or in the cloud, by producing not only high-quality images, but also metadata about the objects in the scene itself. 

In a video management system, the presence of this metadata enables to search the video footage much faster and efficiently, allowing for more detailed searches and reducing the manual work included. 

As AI continues to improve the surveillance industry, it also comes with new responsibilities. The responsibilities include understanding what it can and cannot do, differentiating between benefits and limitations, navigating the possibilities, and more.
