Verantwoorde AI in het Militaire domein: REAIM 2023

De Rijksoverheid organiseert een conferentie over Verantwoorde AI (Artificial Intelligence) in het Militaire domein: REAIM 2023. REAIM 2023 wordt een platform om te discussiëren over de kansen en de risico’s van AI, kennis en ervaringen te delen. En toe te werken naar concrete oplossingen.

Minister Hoekstra van Buitenlandse Zaken (BZ) is gastheer van de ministeriële conferentie, in nauwe samenwerking met het ministerie van Defensie. Co-host van REAIM 2023 is Zuid-Korea. Deelnemers zijn onder andere ministers van Buitenlandse Zaken en andere afgevaardigden van regeringen, kennisinstellingen en denktanks, het bedrijfsleven en maatschappelijke organisaties. 

Artificial intelligence is een systeemtechnologie die de wereld fundamenteel verandert, ook in het militaire domein. Nederland streeft ernaar een vooruitstrevend en verantwoordelijk hightech-land te zijn. Daarom is Nederland gastland voor deze internationale conferentie over de verantwoorde ontwikkeling, toepassing en gebruik van AI in het militaire domein. 

REAIM heeft als doel: 

1. Het onderwerp van verantwoorde AI in het militaire domein hoger op de politieke agenda zetten;

2. Een diverse groep belanghebbenden oproepen en aanzetten om bij te dragen aan concrete volgende stappen;

3. Inspireren en kennis opbouwen door ervaringen en oplossingen te delen.

Het evenement vindt plaats op 15 en 16 februari 2023 in het World Forum in Den Haag. Deelname aan de REAIM-conferentie is gratis. Aanmelden is verplicht in verband met veiligheidsmaatregelen. Het programma van de conferentie is hier te bekijken. Wie niet naar Den Haag kan komen, kan bepaalde sessies van de conferentie ook online bijwonen.

The Dutch Government is hosting a conference on Responsible AI (Artificial Intelligence) in the Military Domain: REAIM 2023. REAIM 2023 will be a platform to discuss the opportunities and risks of AI, share knowledge and experiences. And to work towards concrete solutions.

Minister Hoekstra of Foreign Affairs is hosting the ministerial conference, in close cooperation with the Ministry of Defense. Co-hosting REAIM 2023 is South Korea. Participants include foreign ministers and other delegates from governments, knowledge institutions and think tanks, industry and civil society organisations. 

Artificial intelligence is a systems technology that is fundamentally changing the world, including in the military domain. The Netherlands strives to be a progressive and responsible high-tech country. That is why the Netherlands is hosting this international conference on the responsible development, application and use of AI in the military domain. 

REAIM aims to: 

1. To put the topic of responsible AI in the military domain higher on the political agenda;

2. Invite and encourage a diverse group of stakeholders to contribute to concrete next steps;

3. Inspire and build knowledge by sharing experiences and solutions.

The event will take place on February 15 and 16, 2023 at the World Forum in The Hague. Participation in the REAIM conference is free of charge. Registration is mandatory due to security measures.
