Operational Technology (OT) environments are becoming an increasingly attractive target for cyber threats. As industrial systems and critical infrastructure continue to digitise, the convergence of IT and OT is expanding the attack surface and increasing security complexity.
Looking ahead to 2026, attackers are expected to focus more on operational disruption rather than data theft, with ransomware and state-aligned actors posing growing risks to industrial processes and safety. At the same time, stricter regulatory requirements will place greater responsibility on organisations to continuously manage and demonstrate OT security.
Improving visibility into OT assets, network behaviour and vulnerabilities will be essential. A proactive, integrated approach to OT cybersecurity is becoming a strategic necessity for protecting critical infrastructure.
