InnovationQuarter

InnovationQuarter is the regional economic development agency for the Greater Rotterdam – The Hague area. InnovationQuarter finances innovative and fast-growing companies, assists international companies in establishing their businesses in West Holland, and facilitates (international) collaboration between innovative entrepreneurs, knowledge institutes and government. In this way, and in cooperation with the business community, InnovationQuarter supports the development of the Greater Rotterdam – The Hague area, a unique delta region, to become one of the most innovative regions in Europe.

Foreign Investments

InnovationQuarter has a dedicated team in place to actively promote the region, attract foreign companies and investors and facilitate them in finding the right locations and facilities for setting-up or expanding business in the Greater Rotterdam – The Hague area. We connect you with our tailor-made know-how and key networks especially in sectors such as Safety & Security.

InnovationQuarter is partner of the Invest in Holland network, a close collaboration of the Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency (NFIA), regional economic development agencies like InnovationQuarter and a number of large Dutch cities.

Business Development

Collaboration offers opportunities for growth and cross-sectoral innovation, and creates chances to stand out and be distinctive. InnovationQuarter facilitates (international) collaboration between innovative entrepreneurs, knowledge institutes and government. Our Business Development team acts as independent process directors and provide knowledge and expertise, and facilitates network opportunities in sectors such as Safety & Security. In order to be able to fulfil this role, they are constantly in touch with major corporates, young technology companies and knowledge insti­tutes.

InnovationQuarter Capital

Successful innovation requires money. We invest in Safety & Security companies that, amongst other factors, have the potential to lift our regional economy to a higher level, through stronger clusters, more employment opportunities, and innovations with a societal impact. As a lifecycle investor, InnovationQuarter finances companies in different cycles of their business growth and draws its investments from four funds: IQCapital, UNIIQ, ENERGIIQ and the Rotterdam Energy Transition Fund.

• IQCapital is a €140 million fund that invests in innovative businesses in the Greater Rotterdam – The Hague area, from start-ups and scale-ups to mature SMEs.
• UNIIQ is a €22 million proof-of-concept fund created by Erasmus MC, Delft University of Technology, Leiden University and InnovationQuarter. It helps entrepreneurs bridge the riskiest phase, from concept to promising business.
• ENERGIIQ is a €35 million Province of South Holland fund that finances the commercialisation of proven energy innovations which lead to CO2 reduction.
• The Rotterdam Energy Transition Fund has €100 million available for sustainable investment in scale-ups with the goal of reducing CO2 emissions and raw material usage as well as improving air quality.
