How to Create a Security Culture: The Behavioral Security Model

| Author: SoSafe

The cyber threat landscape of today's world is dynamic and poses significant challenges for businesses. Apart from the swift advancement of artificial intelligence (AI), the danger landscape is becoming a haven for cybercriminals due to social engineering, the growing professionalism of cybercrime, and worldwide geopolitical problems. Because of these various dangers, there is a greater chance of security breaches, thus businesses need to respond quickly and forcefully to modify their defence methods.

SoSafe developed the Behavioral Security Model to transcend traditional security approaches by placing employees at the center of the cyber security strategy. This approach recognises that sustainable security can only be achieved if employees are understood not just as potential risks or the weakest element but rather as key actors in their organisation’s defense.

The four pillars of knowledge, context, motivation, and behaviour form the foundation of the behavioural security model. But rather of being viewed as distinct elements, these dimensions are considered as a cohesive system that motivates workers to take initiative. The interplay of these four elements generates a strong line of defense that supports both individual and collective security efforts. The holistic approach of this model strives to strengthen every aspect of employee contact with cyber security.
